Frostnose made her way blindly out of camp, her nose high in the air. Stepping carefully in the thick snow, she made her way through the skeleton trees, using her nose as her guide, since her eyes were useless.
Her blindness has never been a hiderence of Frostnose's; if anything, it made her a better medicine cat. Sure, eyes are good for assessing visual damage, but what good is that without the knowledge of how to properly and effectively heal it? Frostnose does not envy other medicine cats in the three other Clans. Sight, is something unknown to her, and she cannot miss what she never had; she does not feel like she is at a disadvantage at all. If anything, she is better suited to be a medicine cat than Spiderfang, Mintleaf or [no Medicine cat for WindClan yet]. Because she cannot see, she can smell better, hear better, and her paws are more sensitive to touch.
And, after seven moons of life, she never had to have a guide anywhere ever again. She knew the ThunderClan territory inside and out, and the way to the Moonpool and the Island were committed to memory with scents, sounds and feelings.
So, now she was making her way to the large clearing in the north end of the ThunderClan territory, looking for any surviving yarrow. One of the elders paws were beginning to chafe and she wanted to have more in supply for the warriors paws, who would soon become the same. This leaf-bare was brutally cold.
As she made her way into the clearing, she stopped suddenly, sensing that another creature was there already. She thought it was a cat --- it smelled like one --- but it was a foreign smell. Not Clan-like at all, and certainly not from ThunderClan.
Frostnose wasn't stupid enough to let herself be known. If this was a rogue, she'd stand no chance if he attacked her. She had no fighting skills.
But, then another --- much more familiar scent --- wafted in the join the foreign one.
RiverClan.
